Why is coordination necessary?
Radio signals do not recognize county lines, city boundaries or state borders. A repeater on a tall tower in one region may be heard dozens or even hundreds of miles away under the right conditions. Because of this, adding a repeater is about far more than simply picking an open frequency. Before a frequency can be coordinated, several factors must be considered, including:
A properly coordinated repeater improves spectrum efficiency while reducing the likelihood of conflicts between systems.
