You spoke, we listened, we rebuilt!
Over the past several weeks, we have received more than 50 comments, complaints, and suggestions regarding the WRA website. Some of the feedback was critical, and some was very direct; none of it was positive. We appreciate all of it.
When we began the formation of WRA, we needed to establish a web presence quickly. We hired a developer to get the initial site online so we could begin establishing our organization and building visibility with search engines. Looking back, I wish I had been more involved in that original design, but at the time, our attention was spread across many different parts of building the new organization.
After reviewing the feedback, it became clear that the website simply wasn’t communicating who we are or what we are here to do.
The site had become content-heavy, repetitive, bloated with AI images, difficult to navigate, and lacked a clear structure. More importantly, the overall presentation felt too much like we were trying to sell something.
That is not WRA.
WRA exists to provide a service to Wisconsin’s amateur radio community. Our website should reflect that.
Several weeks ago, we engaged a professional marketing and branding company to independently review our website, public messaging, branding, and overall presentation. Their assessment reinforced many of the same concerns we had heard from our members and the amateur radio community.
So, rather than continuing to patch the existing site, we took a different approach.
We rebuilt it around the people who actually need to use it.
The new website is cleaner, more structured, and significantly easier to navigate. Information has been reorganized, unnecessary repetition has been removed, and wherever possible, we’ve replaced complicated or overly technical language with straightforward, plain English.
Our goal is simple: you should be able to come to the WRA website, find what you need, understand it, and move on without having to hunt for it.
We Listened.
To everyone who took the time to send us feedback, including those who sent what could affectionately be called “hate mail,” thank you. We listened.
We won’t pretend we’re going to get everything right on the first try. What we can promise is that when something doesn’t work, we’re willing to listen, make changes, and improve it.
We’re Almost Ready.
We’re getting very close to opening WRA for business. There are just a few final pieces we’re working through before we officially open the doors.
Thank you for your patience, your criticism, your ideas, and your support.
We’re excited about where WRA is headed, and we look forward to showing you what’s next.
